Assignments!

Okay, I know I've been gone but not forgotten. So, here it is. There is a new assignment out there. I know there are some of you who could easily do this! Now, do it! I feel slightly ignored :) No, but seriously - I know a few of you personally who read this. Why not take a minute and sign up for a Flickr account and post some images!

Happy nearly Easter!

Good gracious~! I can hardly believe Easter is around the bend. We don't even have a full week left! I can't believe that? I am thrilled, I love Easter...but I do prefer to have it in April rather than March. Well, what do you do? So, in honor of the upcoming blessed event...go out there and be creative. Assignment 4: Photograph something that represents what Easter means to you.

For me, it's rebirth. I love the idea of eggs. I fresh start. A new beginning. And when you get to color them these delicious hues of the rainbow...it can't be beat. So, get started!

Assignment #3: Handwriting

So often we find ourselves typing away on an impersonal keyboard with fonts that look too stark, too straight and too stuffy. I found this incredible site that offers to make your handwriting into a font for FREE! There is a disclaimer that she might not do yours, but it's worth a shot. Here is the link. So, in the off chance she doesn't pick your amazing script your assignment #3 is to take a creative picture of your own handwriting. I find most of my handwriting is found on scraps of paper or in a journal. So, be creative!

Back on track...contest & assignment!

Here's my shot of the day. I know it's been sporadic, but my redeeming thought is that I do think about getting the post done. I want to get the post put up. It's just difficult with three crazies running around and keeping up with their schedules...so, please cut me some slack! :)

The first shot is a typical shot for me...something nearby :)



The next shot was part of my amazing finds from heading to the thrift store.



So, now here's your assignment. Take a picture of something that epitomizes a part of who you are. For me, the shot of the jar exemplifies the fact that I am totally out for a good deal (that's part one), but also that I keep a tight lid on certain aspects of who I am. Not that I don't want to share different parts of myself, I guess there is a sense of nervous vulnerability that I struggle to allow everyone to see. There are definitely those who do, but I guess they are few. So, that's part two. Now it's your turn. And I want you to ADD IT TO THE DANG FLICKR GROUP! Come on people. Larger images! Finally...

I have been more than a little frustrated with how small some of the images come out. Now, I realize that it is perfectly plausible that anyone interested in seeing them LARGER, could simply click on them. But, here's my issue with that...I want the impact of the image to be immediate! I don't want you to have to wait til the page is loaded and then you finally get to see the image, which you have already glanced at initially. Not fun. So, here's some images of the day!




Now if I can just figure out how to CENTER them. Another day.

Collections!

I love photography assignments. If I ever get good at this thing - I will try to come up with fun assignments for all you readers out there! So, to copy from an assignment I found...it was called COLLECTIONS. We all have them. Some we are proud of, others not so much. Some we don't even realize we have. Me. Well, I have more than I care to mention. But, that's me. I try to "stock up" and that leads to some random collections. I have a ton of journals, more than I can count (or find at the moment), i love shoes & clocks, I have TONS of lipgloss, chapstick - which when you live out here in the dry state of Colorado, you cannot have enough of. I have magazines out the wazzoo. I hope to get ideas from them, but as of yet - half remain unread. So, in honor of all that we collect - I say - go shoot them (not with a gun though). If they are pretty - great. Even if they aren't - great. Just take a picture of them. If you want, shoot me an email of them and I'll post it on here! It's way more fun when you know what everyone is doing too! Be creative. Some of us collect dust bunnies in the strangest of places! Have fun with this. Email me at brittannphotography@gmail.com!
